CSCS Contractors

Do your contractors hold the correct CSCS card?   CSCS is the leading skills certification scheme within the UK construction industry, CSCS cards provide proof that individuals working on construction sites have the required training and qualifications for the type of work carried out. GLJ continually support and encourage their employees, site operatives and contractors to further their skills, improve standards and maintain the highest standards of Health & Safety.

GLJ register as NICEIC approved contractor

We are pleased to announce our successful registration onto the NICEIC Approved Contractor Scheme. GLJ will continue to provide tailored electrical services to the industrial, commercial and retail sectors as they have done for many years, but in addition to our core contract services will now also be able to offer in-house electrical contract management, quality control and bespoke solutions in order to deliver tailored cost effective installations to our clients.   Supporting all commercial sectors, GLJ provide the following services:   Electrical Installation Condition Reports Electrical Design Lighting Design Electrical & Emergency Installations Refurbishment or Replacement Upgrade of Existing Systems Surveys, Testing & Recommendations Fire Alarm Installations Intruder Alarms Access Control

GLJ employee on DIY SOS

GLJ Employee Wayne Kempson yet again volunteered to be on BBC's DIY SOS. The big build was in Telford, West Midlands and lasted for two weeks. Throughout this time Wayne proved very useful on site with his diverse skill set so much so they have ask him back to another build later on in the year. Congratualtions to Wayne, who has done GLJ proud.

GLJ renew Constructionline membership

 GLJ Contracts are pleased to announce that we have renewed our Constructionline membership throughout 2017 and 2018. GLJ hopes to carry on to be accredited with Constructionline for the foreseeable future.    Constuctionline confirms GLJ Contracts commitment to health and safety competence. Suppliers can sometimes meet one buyers health and safety standards but not another. Constructionline  assesses applicants health and safety policy, their organisation for health and safety and their specific health and safety arrangements to a standard acceptable to their buyers and to others.

GLJ employees successfully complete Tough Mudder South West

GLJ employees James Hopkins, Ryan Burns, Joe Preece, Connor Wilde and Ryan Cotterill have successfully completed Tough Mudder South West on the 20th August. After 12 miles of enjoyment and pain they finished the course within 4 hours.    The GLJ employees are proud to annouce that they have raised over £900 for Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group. This money will go on to fund and support vital research into childhood and teenage cancer to cure as many children as possible with kinder treatments so there are less short term and long term side effects. They are also active in helping children in the developing world where 80% of children have no access to life-saving treatments. GLJ Renew SMAS Work Safe Certificate

GLJ are pleased to continue their accreditation with SMAS Work Safe throughout 2016 and 2017.GLJ hope to carry on to be accredited with SMAS Work Safe for the foreseeable future.     The SMAS Work Safe accreditation is a dedicated health & safety assessment company which has qualified H&S professionals to assess each SMAS application. The assessor looks into the evidence we have provided in order to demonstrate that we use the necessary health and safety systems and qualifications in order to carry out our works safely.

GLJ continue to be an Armstrong specialist ceiling contractor

GLJ are pleased to renew their appointment as an Armstrong Omega specialist ceiling contractor through 2016. This carry’s on the many years of being in partnership with Armstrong. GLJ hope to carry on this partnership for the many years to come. The Armstrong OMEGA contractor programme is designed to develop the close partnership between both Armstrong and specialist ceiling contractors to reach the highest levels of performance, service and sustainability.

GLJ awarded Staffordshire University contract

Commencing June 2015 Staffordshire University will undertake a £40 million makeover of its main campus and facilities on College Road.   GLJ have been instructed by main contractor, Thomas Vale Construction part of the Bouygues Group, to provide various contract services throughout the refurbishment phases. Works include installation of partitioning, dry-lining and plastering, suspended ceilings, fire stopping and specialist carpentry and joinery works.

AIS FPDC Rebrands

GLJ are members of AIS (Association of Interiors Specialists) but the organisation have now merged and rebranded to become FIS (Finishes & Interiors Sector.) The new brand reflects the organisations aim to create one strong voice for the finishes and interiors sector, helping to address key issues that affect not only its members, but the construction industry and the UK economy. FIS’s mission is to raise, maintain and ensure continuity of standards, be a source of quality membership, drive sustainability and provide benefits to and represent the interests of members. Commenting on the rebrand, FIS president Steve Coley said, “The coming together of AIS and FPDC has created a powerful and unique voice for our sector. Our aim is to equip members to meet client needs more effectively, to make sure the sector has enough people with the right skills working to high technical standards, and to embed a culture of quality and sustainable development." The organisations chief executive David Frise added, “FIS will truly represent the finishes and interiors sectors contractors, manufacturers and distributors within its membership.
